~1924 PLAYBOY PORTFOLIO OF ART & SATIRE~ This 1924 Playboy Portfolio is extremely rare!! and very hard to come by. It was appraised and aired live on the Antiques Roadshow and the appraiser stated he had knowledge of this Portfolio but had never before come across one during all his shows & travels. He also stated that the condition was still in really good shape and each drawing or wood-cut sold separately from the book would be worth anywhere between $1,500-2,000 each. This Portfolio was printed and published by hand on a small Printing Press July 1924 by Editor: Egmont Arens, at the Flying Stag Press of New York. The Playboy Portfolio is a Limited Edition of 10 Volumes this being No. 9. This Portfolio started a new movement of Art and Social change. The Portfolio contains 42 pages of incredible Woodcuts., Linoleum Cuts, Drawings, Paintings, Portraits, Watercolors, Poems and Essay's all by many famous artists such as Rockwell Kent, Joseph Stella and Pamela Bianco just to name a few. I have highlighted in red the ones that are signed by the artist within the contents. This Portfolio Measures: 12 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. 42 pages Condition: Portfolio has 6 loose pages-Front cover-Back cover and 4 others which are un-numbered pages, also 2 pgs. have come loose inside the binding. Page 42 has 2 damp stains, all to be expected for it's age of 88 years. I have had this in my possession for 40 years and have kept the Woodcuts and Lino-cuts pages in acid-free paper to preserve their original state. Some pages have minor worn off edges. Overall the condition is good and the pictures, drawings, portraits and text are in great condition. This is a very unique Portfolio.
