Time At the latter part of the Muromachi period (1336-1573) Inscription No Inscription Dimensions 1. Length = 9.6 cm2. Width = 1.4 cm3. Height = 0.6 cm4. Weight = 23 g5. Material = Shakudo (alloy of copper and gold)6. Box = Wooden Box7. Certificate = Yes, Issued by NBTHK on May 2 of 2008.8. Endorsement = Yes, Endorsed by Sato Kanzan in 1971. (If you would like to know the measure in inches, please divide each number by 2.54 and please multiply 0.0353 if you would like to transform grams to ounces.[Example] 10cm = 3.937inch, 100g = 3.53oz ) Description [ Shakudo Nanako-Ji Takabori Iroe Zogan Kozuka ]Kozuka is a utility knife which is usually inserted in a pocket on a scabbard.A Kozuka consists of Hitsu (handle) and Ho (blade).This item is the handle part only.A certificate issued by NBTHK (Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai) on May 2 of 2008 is attached.According to the certificate, it is made of Shakudo (alloy of copper and gold).The surface is processed like hard roe (=Nanako-Ji).The motif dog is expressed in high-relief carving (=Takabori), and the Iroe inlay with gold.This Kozuka was made by Ko-Kinko.Ko-Kinko means craftsman before the Momoyama period (1573-1603).It is too hard to find pieces of works by Ko-Kinko.There is also an endorsement done in 1971 by Sato Kanzan on the lid of the wooden box.Sato Kanzan is really No.1 grand person in the Japanese sword world.He founded the NBTHK !This item is really really precious one !
