Original Black Leather, Framed in Polished Chrome Steel. c.1970, design by Giovanni Offredi, for Saporiti Italia. Minus the 24-36 Week Lead-Time!!! CONDITION REPORT: Single Onda Lounge Chair & Ottoman, upholstered in ORIGINAL Black Leather, Framed in Mirror Polished Chromed Stainless Steel! 100% Authentic "Saporiti Italia" from very early 1970's or 1980's Collection, designed by Giovanni Offredi. Chair & Ottoman are in Excellent Structural and Cosmetic Condition, with Super Original Thin Sculpted Foam, free from Rips, Stains, or Tears to the Original Upholstery!!! A solid vintage 8.0 to 8.5 on a scale of 1-10 (10 being perfect). 2nd Chair available, however needs re-upholstery. There are only a few light scratches to the lower frame, however they aren't so easily seen, except under close scrutiny & inspection. Literally ZERO significantly obvious detractions from even a few feet away, as you can clearly see in the photos (More Photos to Come). This chair is Vintage, so it should not be mistaken for 100% Perfect, but like I said, the chair is in very good shape, and shows it's "Character-of-Age" wonderfully. Chair has no floor glides, ottoman has both. I tried to order them from Saporiti, whom has no more remaining stock of this retired glide design, as well for my Wave Loveseat & 2-Wave Three-Seat Missoni Linen Sofas, and dining chairs (go figure). Other early 80's Offredi RARE designs, have been fetching prices of $1,000.00 to $1,500.00 per dining chair on 1stDibs.com & Wright20 Auction House, and they have been rising steadily as Collectors have been grabbing up extras in any condition, in attempt to "GROW" their existing sets. These pieces have been becoming INCREASINGLY RARE & SOUGHT AFTER!!! On December 14th, 2006, The prestigious "Phillips de Pury" Modern Arts Auction House, of New York City, auctioned a "MOBY DICK" Lounge Chair (dated c.1969 by Alberto Rosselli for Saporiti Italia), with an estimate listed at $30,000 - $40,000.00 USD. The Moby Dick closed at $58,000.00 to a Live Floor Bidder (plus 22.5% Buyer's Premium and Local State Sales Tax of 8.75% on top). That's a GRAND TOTAL of $77,267.00 USD. About Giovanni Offredi: Giovanni Offredi was born in Milan in 1927. After technical and artistic studies, he attends to building industry and to interior design. He started his activity of design in 1963 / 1965; he made many competition and in this period he started working for industries of interior design. With his working, he elaborates a particular idea of project. Giovanni Offredi believes that project research is an ethical matter. Therefore, he has adopted a “spiritual” method, whereas others merely resort to technicalities. He is certainly a unique man, as he is extremely calm, simple and quite shy. He expresses his ideas very clearly. His only concern is to translate his own thoughts into reality as best as he can and as close to perfection as possible. Offredi is convinced that homes are not absolutely a very limited space where everyday life tiredly takes place, but that they are a wide and hugely immense entity. His interiors and every accessory to be found in them are continuously object of thought, so as their essence can be presented in the most precious as ingenious way. In his designs harmony is obtained through careful and effective proportions, plastic concreteness and a creativity free from all conventional constrains. In the forms he creates he aims at reaching an order as close as possible to perfections by eliminating all superfluous elements and all details which may contaminate the order obtained. His designs are exalted by stressing the contrast between simplicity of the basic scheme and the refinement of the final global form. His furniture no longer is mere form but becomes architecture and art. He has worked in various fields of designing for famous Italian and foreign companies, creating furniture, lamps, objects and accessories as well as kitchens, sofas, closets, televisions and telephones. He has also prepared the settings for many fairs in Milan, Paris and Cologne as well as designed stores. The excellence of his works can be testified be the great many acknowledgements and prizes he has received. Suffice is to mention just a few, such as the Compasso d’Oro, the Smau prize, the Trieste prize, four Mia-Print prizes and two Formica-Domus prizes. His works can be found at the Modern Arts’ Museum of New York and in the Victoria and Albert Museum of London. Briefly one can say that design in the expression of the raison d’etre of a product ; it is also the complete expression of the esthetic and technical analysis of the object itself. While being designed, the most significant and expressive form representing the culture of the time is chosen amongst the great variety of possible forms which can be given to an object with a specific function. It also depends on the intensity and richness of our knowledge which wants to come to life and take a form which is expressive of our times. Design can never become a fashion, as fashions are the passions and folly of every age. If you wish to contact me with a shipping question… YOU MUST PROVIDE the following ACCURATELY: (Or else I “will-not” be able to provide you an accurate freight quote). 1. FULL NAME /// 2. STREET ADDRESS /// 3. CITY /// 4. STATE /// 5. ZIPCODE *Commercial or Residential (with or without Loading Dock)??? *Ground Floor or Other (with Elevator, or Steps to Walk-up)??? *Long or Short Haul ( < or > 150’ from unloading point)??? *Pick-Ups* If you are local, feel free to contact me to schedule an appointment for viewing. You are free to coordinate your own couriers for pickup, provided payment is accepted and processed prior to pickup date. All Small-Sized Units (chairs, single cabinets, lounge chairs) can be moved throughout Manhattan and the 5 Burroughs simply and cost effectively, in a NYC Mini-Van Taxi Cab. Items can be picked up Free-of-Charge, less any handling fees, in Downtown SOHO, New York, NY 10013. Building features: 24/7/365 Access (9AM to 7PM preferred), Freight Elevator, Docks, Ramping, Carts, and Onsite Parking for Loading/Unloading. Medium-Sized Units typically require Pickup in any rental U-Haul / Enterprise / Avis / etc, 12’ Standard Cargo-Van or Box-Truck. *Deliveries* All Small & Medium Sized Deliveries will ship twice weekly: Domestically via DHL or UPS (Standard Ground/Insured), Internationally via USPS (Airmail/Insured). Additional Premium-Services can be Specified & Paid for, at buyer’s request. All Units exceeding either Size and or Weight restrictions of DHL, UPS, USPS, will ship via Commercial Freight Lines. Deliveries of units in the Tri-State-Metro Area are made approximately once weekly by seller, scheduled within 10 days of received auction payment, for fees of between $75.00 and $250.00 (respectively, depending upon size and quantity of units being delivered). All Large-Sized Items outside the Tri-State Metro Area are only shipped via Commercial Freight Carriers. You are free to obtain your own quotes, however since 9/11/2001, the shipping industry has changed dramatically. You’ll now be “hard-pressed” to find shipping companies that are willing to, Accept and Insure Used or Vintage-Used furniture items, which are not “brand-new sealed in original packaging being sold by the manufacturer.” And if you do find a shipper who will accept this, they typically will not pickup from a storage location, rather only from a “bona fide” incorporated commercial-storefront (and these companies usually will not feature packaging/crating services). I’m suggesting www.PLYCONvanlines.com and www.CratersAndFreighters.com as some of the only National “White-Glove” exceptions to the listed acceptable criteria. Alternatively, I work with a small select group of national shippers, whom frequent most metropolitan cities. My freight quotes and deliveries will take longer to obtain, but will cost you “significantly less.” The choice is yours. *INTERNATIONAL Freight Deliveries* All Large-Sized Furniture Items being shipped outside the USA, “MUST BE” Coordinated by Buyer, utilizing a Customs Broker. Custom Pallets, Packaging, and Crating Services must be utilized for these deliveries, of which I “cannot” provide. These units must be insured, and there are no returns on these items. *Terms & Conditions of Sale* All of my items being auctioned on eBay are featured in storefront and marketed simultaneously for sale through the design trade and several industry specific avenues. In some cases, an item is sold prior to the close of its auction, not through eBay and in accordance, as not to circumvent the selling policies of eBay. When this occurs, all active bidding will be canceled, and the auction will be ended and closed early, under the grounds “this item is no longer available for sale.” A rare occurrence sometimes develops within the final 12 hours of an auction’s end, where ending the auction is not always possible. This is due to the frequent and common use of BidSnipers and other BidSniping Programs, which enter bids in the last few seconds of an auction. There simply isn’t enough time to effectively cancel these bids, and close the auction. In this rare and seldom event, the sale of the item through an auction win, must be considered null and void. *Payments* For the successful win of an auction, all payments must be made within 7 days of auction’s close, prior to filing of unpaid item alert and winning becoming null and void. My preference for payment is Bank EFT or “Certified” Bank Check, due to online transaction fees. Thank You. Thank You For Taking The Time To View My Auction!!!
