In succeeding Jacques Bellin in this position, he was able to access the latest information from exploration surveys around the globe. Ths fine copperplate example of his work is from the Atlas Encyclopédique published in 1787. The map shows a great deal of accuracy, especially on the eastern seabord while in the west, little is known, except for the coast which had been surveyed by the Spanish and Capt. Cook. The Arctic shoreline is not known west of Hudson's Bay; it even joins up with Greenland. The established cities of the Atlantic and Caribbean regions are easily identified, as well as forts such as Duquesne (Pittsburg) and Fort du Detroit (Detroit). The map is in excellent condition with later hand coloring which reflects the political divisions of the continent at that time. The maps is printed on heavy paper with a centerfold (as issued). The scanned ebay image was compiled from two digital files and may give the illusion of  another fold. There are six scales of distance at top right and Bonne's name appears below the title at bottom left.
