Description
______________________________ Offering this Delicate & Translucent Peachblow Sugar & Creamer Set ~ Created in the Late 1880’s by the New England Glass Co. __________________________________________ __________________________________________This diminutive set is a Stellar Example of Early Peachblow Glass and is attributed to the New England Glass Company. New England Peachblow was first patented in 1886 under the name of “Wild Rose”. Their wares shaded from white, cream or ivory translucent glass at the base and deepened to dark rose at the top. The glass is not cased (as was Wheeling Peachblow) but is composed of “one homogenous composition throughout”. These pieces also display a glossy finish although the majority of New England’s Peachblow was satin glass. The set is made up of an open sugar bowl and creamer. The pieces are small but exquisite! This sugar bowl measures 2-3/8” across the rim and is 2-1/4” in height. The piece has a custard-cream color to the exterior with a broad band of deep rose on its interior rim edge. There is one inclusion on its side that is about the size of a rice grain. This dates from time of manufacture and is common in early blown glass pieces. The creamer measures 2-5/8” tall to the top of the reeded handle. It is 2-5/8” from spout to handle. The reeded handle was hand-applied and looks just like butter-cream icing was delicately ‘piped’ on to the side. (See Photos!) Both Peachblow pieces are in Excellent Condition. Both exhibit pontil marks to their bases. There is light swirling to the smooth glass surfaces that can be felt. The swirling of the colors within the glass walls is wonderful. Rare and very desirable! An Elegant Pair for a Regal Breakfast Tray! There is No Reserve! Winning Bidder will pay actual shipping with insurance costs.
