It has been professionally framed (Michaels) and in excellent condition. The Cammann Stethoscope was the Holy Grail of professional doctors with assorted new enhancements. In the 1880s many improvements focused on the center tension adjustment. A variety of clumsy Rube Goldberg contraptions were patented. A simple tension band to hold ear pieces in doctor’s ear was invented by Davis and became a good solution in the 1890s. Tubing is woven cloth or silk and Bell and ear pieces appear to be Bakelite or gutta-percha. There are no visible manufacturing markings. Size is 15” in length. Frame size is 21” x 11” x 2”.
