Description
I'm launching a series of digital "reprints" on CD of various old musical instruments trade catalogs and other antique music related books and prints and new items similar to this are added to my eBay store all the time. And don't hesitate to ask me if you can't find what you're looking for. There are hundreds of other titles in peparation. Please note that the item in this and my other ebook auctions are reproductions, not originals. For sale here is a reproduction of a large late 19th C. main catalog from Hamilton S. Gordon, New York, one of the major U.S. musical instruments distributors at that time.PreviewsHere are a few scaled down samples from the ebook. (You can click on the images to view slightly larger versions.) Please note that the large images above are still much smaller than the ones on the CD. You can click here for a full size scan of one of the pages if you want to see the quality available from the CD.DescriptionKey dataTitle:Illustrated Catalogue (1897-8)Publisher:Hamilton S. (The exact number of gatherings is hard to determine without dismantling the book.)The semi-hard cover is covered with brown cloth and printed with gold on outside front only. The pastedown for the front cover and the combined flyleaf and pastedown for the back are made from heavy, yellow paper.ContentSince this is a general catalog from a major distributor, all musical instruments common at that time (except for the piano and organ) and quite a few that weren't, are represented.Brand namesThe following brands and manufacturers are represented in the catalog:Fifes(unbranded)Tin whistles and flageoletsC Clark's(unbranded)Flutes and piccolos"Nach H. There is however some tearing around the edges of some of the pages, obscuring the headers (but not the actual content) of some of them. Strangely enough it seems as if all the pages were glued together along the edges by the printer and some of them have been treated rather roughly when opened up.More seriously, some of the last pages has suffered some water or acid damage causing them to stick together at the bottom. It was not possible to separate them without causing some damage to the content, obscuring the prices of some items of violin accessories.FormatThe CD presents the catalog in a choice of three different formats: high resolution (180 dpi) JPEG scans for maximum quality, HTML format allowing you to leaf through the scans as if it was a paper book and PDF format for quick reference with all pages in a single document. It is readable on any reasonably modern computer with a CD drive.Other ebooksDon't forget to visit my eBay store regularly! There is already a large selection of similar items for sale there and new ones are added all the time!
