Our Skype name is - orvillefour.     Ref:  54993 This fantastic tile was manufactured by the famous Sherwin & Cotton tile manufacturers, from the United Kingdom, in 1898.  It is decorated with a design featuring a portrait of the renowned British Prime Minister, William Gladstone.  The image is taken from a portrait by the famous early photographer, Hayman Selig Mendelssohn.  The tile is hand painted in a muted palette and is finished in a high quality gloss glaze. Marks & Backstamps The tile is marked to the rear with the impressed wording 'Made By Sherwin & Cotton at their works in Hanley in the county of Stafford 1898' and to the front face with the wording 'From A Portrait By H.S.Mendelssohn'  (please refer to additional photographs below). Condition & Size The tile is in very good condition, with no chips, cracks or restoration. It measures approximately 9” in height by 6" in width.
