An exquisite, vintage 1971 Gibson A-5 Mandolin This A-5 has the "F Style" Lump Scroll, making it very unique indeed. This beautiful instrument has been meticulously cared for and maintained by an avid enthusiast. Very recently the instrument was carefully inspected by a local Luthier, a true master craftsman, who gave the piece an excellent bill of health. The finish is absolutely brilliant. There is absolutely no checkering on the finish. I would rate the intument a 9.8 out of 10. Why not 10 out of 10? SImple, there was a minor repair, again performed by the same master craftsman mentioned earlier. He had to replace a section of the ivory on the back side of this precious piece. He carefully "yellowed" the ivory to match. Only with very careful inspection will one see the repair. I included a picture of the repaired area for your consideration. This is a must have show piece for any serious Gibson collector. A truley rare find, this is a find that will not come along very often. Carpe Diem! The case is included in the sale.
