Description
Current Lot An important set of four George II cast silver table candlesticks Paul de Lamerie, London 1733-35 the circular base with chased shell and leaf border, the flat with engraved armorials, the stem with floret detail, faceted baluster stem with chased heads in an oval, gadrooned knop with a leaf clasped sconce moulded edge, the undersides with engraved crest, motto, numbered and scratch weights (4) 19.7cm high, 81oz Heraldry: The arms are of John Carmichael, 3rd Earl of Hyndford, K.T. (1707-1767) sometime Ambassador to Russia and Vienna, and was twice married. The crests (within the insignia of the Order of the Thistle, conferred 1742) to the underside are of Sir John Carmichael-Gibson, Bart. of Skirling, Co.
