However these are pretty clean. They will need a soak to remove any dressing from them and to soften them as they are very thick rustic metis. To give one a idea of the quality / thickness of these 6 they weigh (combined) 1.4Kg. These 6 are huge measuring approx 26 inches wide by 37 inches long. They are still ecru in colour as they were made from unbleached fabric as genuine vintage ones always were. They will go pure white with repeat washing. The quality is such that they will most likely last any buyer a lifetime. For those who do not know Metis is a old French woven fabric. Woven using pure linen for the vertical thread and cotton for the horizontal thread, this means the fabric is 55% linen and 45% cotton.The monogramme ( C.L or G.L )is hand worked in the traditional red cross stitch. The mongramme is placed in the center near the top of the cloth.It is impossible to be accurate on the date that these were made so I am not going to try.Of course apart from being slightly grubby are in excellent condition.Postage is from France by economy service to all destinations.
