ANCIENT EGYPTIAN KOHL CONTAINER. This item came from the collection of an elderly gentleman who wrote for antique publications. He has been collecting for over 60 years, where and when the items were acquired from we can not guess.  He is over 90 years old and in a nursing home. His children have decided to sell the collection of Buddhist artifacts, African sculpture, Pre Columbian pottery Ancient Egyptian items and 19th century paintings. Plus much, much more. Here we have an ancient Egyptian alabaster kohl container, with what appears to be a residue of the black eyeliner on the inside of the container. From what we can gather from his notes this is listed as an 18th dynasty alabaster kohl container 1550 -1295 BC. Size: Aprox 2 1/2" tall x 2 1/4" wide. Condition: There are 2 chips along the bottom rim of the base and 2 tiny chips on the top rim. The stone has a warm golden patina. This is a beautiful and ancient item. Museum quality.
