You are Bidding on this Wonderful Sterling Silver Pap Boat in Very Good Condition!! One flea bite on the rim and one flea bite on the side. Maker Saml.Massey(probable) London, England. C:1796. This is a rare George III beautiful Sterling Silver Pap Boat. Because of its limited use not many were required and less expensive materials were used. For those reasons few Silver Pap Boats seem to have survided. The Hallmarks remain quite clear and the 1796 date for London is very legible. While Saml. Massey is the artist guides put a "probable" by his name so we accept that. While at first glance it appears simple but it certainly required very skilled hands to fabricate. The trim around the top is very well done. This Pap Boat is a very fine piece for the serious collector.
