Due to the age there is wear - the verse was stitched in a light blue and it has faded and lost some of the stitches, there is also fading in the lower case numbers where yellows and blues were used. There are no holes or tears and no staining. It comes from a smoke free home. It measures 17 1/2" wide by 17" long. The verse reads as follows: Teach me to feel anothers woe To have the faith to see That mercy to another show That mercy show to me. If I am right For in the night to stay If I am wrong so teach my heart To find the better way. This was written on a piece of paper many years ago. The sampler also has Sarah H's (cannot make out last name) Sampler Worked in The Lady Isabella Smyth's School the 2 of Dec 1818. The boarders are in good condition. Sprinkled around the sampler are tiny pictures of hearts, diamonds, houses, crowns, dogs, boats, etc. This sampler could be restored as the backing is still in very good condition.
