This wonderful sculpture is a genuine Antique and dates to the early 1800's. It is a fine example of a 19th century Italian bronze with spectacular detail. It is elaborately mounted on a rouge marble base. It depicts a male nude servant defending his fallen master. The two figures are taken from a painting by the French artist Girodet- Triosen (The Revolt of Cairo) and depicts the slaughter of the Mamelukes. The patina is exquisite and is in excellent condition!!!
