The top is clearly marked "PRINCE CHARLIE" (see close-up photo). The box has a wonderful Scottish Clan Plaid Pattern. There is a porthole on the side through which the thread is pulled from a spool placed inside the box. The Tartan Ware box measures 2-1/2" in diameter with the nicely beveled lid and flat bottom extending outward to 2-7/8" across. It stands 2-3/8" high. The box is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, splits or missing wood. One small piece of the plaid veneer is missing on the lid (see bottom of last photo). The underside of the box still has most of its original green backing. The box is exceptionally clean with no stains. The lid fits perfectly. This is truly a lovely collectible Antique Tartan Ware "PRINCE CHARLIE" Thread Box from the Mid-Late 1800's which can be used in addition to making a striking display. Place a Bid!
