The inside of  one of the black iron sides has a date which is Jan. 4, 1887, serial number K261780 . I bought this from a dealer in 1999 he says it is in working order- I have the belt that goes with it . I never used it for sewing. I only wanted it for decoration. Really great piece - it is only missing a stem on the upper drawer right hand side- does not take away from the piece-still beautiful! The measurements are 37 inches wide, 18 1/2 inches in depth and 30 1/2 inches in height.
