They were used by the Quaker Lace Textile Company which was a major factory in Pennsylvania beginning in the late 1800's. This particular one is spun in Carrot colored thread. Each bobbin measures roughly 7" long and has ends that measure a little over 2" across (many of the ends still have some wonderful chippy paint on them). They vary in thickness depending on how full they're wound, with some weighing in at a full 10 ounces! (if you have a preference for thickness, please let us know.)
