Description
Museum Quality Magnificent RARE Treasure LUSH and LOVELY ARTS AND CRAFTS WONDROUS LARGE ART GLASS VESSEL WITH INCREDIBLE ENAMELING ~ GORGEOUS POPPIES WITH LEAVES AND SWIRLS ~ Poppies were very popular design elements in Arts and Crafts creations, including beautiful designs from the 186Os through the early 19OOs, and this vase was lavishly hand painted with typical floral renditions of the Arts and Crafts era What a rare opportunity this is - to find an amazing work of art glass from the Arts and Crafts era - so magnificent There is no reserve on this extremely beautiful art glass vase with skillfully hand rendered, fabulous and graceful, bold enamel floral and lyrical designs. Gorgeous custard glass is adorned with sweet, scrumptious, large open poppies, elegant unopened blossoms, stunning leaves, plus glorious golden details ~ all in distinctive Arts and Crafts style. Pulsating purple, ravishing rose, lush lime green, tantalizing teal, outstanding white, glorious gold and beautiful burgundy are astoundingly striking. Intriguing, stunning black, around the rim, adds even more interest to this enchantingly adorned, important vessel. The organic elements, brilliant colors, elegant contrasts and sensual shape are lovely and luxurious. It is incredible! Custard glass was first popularized in Bohemia in 187O, then in England during the 188Os. Various chemical compounds were combined to achieve the desired creamy effect, which resembles very fine porcelain. The beautiful enameling is Arts and Crafts, in design and coloration, and this may very well be a LIBERTY piece. This especially enchanting vessel measures 10 1/4" high and 4 1/2" across. A powerful vase, it is in very, very good condition, with a tiny nick near the base and some minute nicks along the rim (probably original to the piece when it was made). Thick enamel designs appear to be intact and there is only a small amount of gold loss. Thin glass walls show great skill of execution, and the handpainted, lavish designs were obviously rendered by a highly skilled artist. A swirling pontil and some scratches (from age) grace the bottom. Sale is final. What a magnificent and unique addition this would be to any art glass collection and what a great gift this absolutely luscious piece would be for any art glass collector! This is an opportunity for you to purchase not only a piece of art in the form of the mysterious alchemy that is the glass medium, but something that, over time, you will be able to appreciate not only for its exquisite beauty, but its value at this very low offered price!
