The signature appears on an otherwise blank leaf before the title page.Also signed on the colophon leaf by the book designer & typographer Frederick Warde.Long acknowledged as the "original Alice", Alice Hargeaves consistently refused to sign any copy of the work. Financial concerns in her old age and the charming persuasive skills of George Macy, publisher of the Limited Editions Club, led to her signing approximately 500 sheets for inclusion in the present edition.
