Description
Description of item for sale: This spectacular gilt gesso on wood framed mirror is from France and it dates to the late 1800’s.  We purchased this mirror from its original home just a few months ago and we have included a photo of it in place in its original location.  The gilding is very beautiful with perfect patina of 100 years of age.  The wood frame is sturdy and straight with no worm or dry rot.  The gesso is in very good antique condition.  It has a number of small cracks and chips as old pieces like this often show.  However, the overall look is truly wonderful and there is no damage that detracts from the mirror’s beauty.  There is minor wear of the gilding, especially on the beading surrounding the glass.  This wear appears to have occurred from repeated cleaning of the mirror glass over the years where rubbing took off the gilding on the tops of the beading.  The mirror glass is in very nice antique condition.  There are a handful of small spots and streaks and a few small surface scratches.  The silvering is hand painted-a good verification of age.  Dimensions: 94“ tall, 43” across.  Please be sure to check at the bottom of this listing to see if any corrections or answers to questions have been posted.   Who We Are, What We Sell: Yesteryear Antiques is just two of us-a true husband and wife company.  We hand select everything we sell from a small group of “house cleaners”-people who buy estates in Belgium and France.  That way, we pay the lowest prices.  We try to carry a wide variety of high quality, affordable antiques-something for everyone!  We have no store-only direct sales of shipping containers to dealers and our eBay business.   Excellent Customer Service: We promise to keep you informed, to listen to your concerns and solve problems.  In almost all cases if you aren’t fully satisfied you can return your purchase for a refund of the purchase price.  You can buy with complete confidence since we accept returns.   Descriptions You Can Rely On: You won’t see a lot of fluff in our descriptions.  We try to communicate what you need to know with accurate words and high quality photos.  We aren’t experts in everything we sell, but we promise to tell you what we know and show you accurate photos of items we’re auctioning.   Delivery/Shipping: For shipping, we will work with you to assure quality shipping for your purchase. However, for things like this that are too large for UPS or the Post Office, the cost of shipping, selection of shipping method and coordination of shipping is the buyer’s responsibility.  We recommend Plycon Van Lines and we will get a quote for you from them-just email us your address.  If you would like to get your own estimate from Plycon visit their website http://www.plyconvanlines.com and fill out their shipping estimate form.  Quotes take a least one business day (not available on weekends).  We will also deliver in the Portland/Vancouver metro area for a flat charge of $100.   We Welcome Local Inspections and Pickups: If you live in the area, you’re welcome to come by to check out items we’re auctioning and to pick up your purchases with no shipping or pickup charges.
