Description
This Auction is for a Sampler In Original Frame With Original Glass Up for auction is A Sampler dated May 14th, 1825. This piece is believed to be in the original Mahogany Veneer Frame with original wavey glass, with outside measurement: 21 7/8" by 21 1/2" Epitaph on a poor and virtuous man STOP, reader, here, and deign to look On one without a name' Ne'er enter'd in the ample book Of fortune, or of fame. Studious of peace, he hated strife; Meek virtues fill'd his breast: His coat of arms, "a spotless life;" An honest heart," his crest. Quarter'd there with was innocence, And thus his motto ran "A conscience void of all offence Before both God and man." In the great day of wrath, tho' pride Now scorns his pedigree, Thousands shall wish ther'd been allied To this great family. There is some age discoloration and the green in the floral pattern along the bottom, has run. I have tried to picture all parts and elements of the piece. If you have questions, please ask!
