Selendang Payakumbuh Minangkabau DESCRIPTION Up for auction is a nineteenth century Selendang Payakumbuh textile from Sumatra, Indonesia.   This skillfully woven textile has gold threads against a red background and the center area is a concentric diamond grille pattern. The beautifully textile has decorated broad pattern bands in the end areas and there is silk and metallic threads covering the piece.   It is in very good condition and this type of Indonesian textile artifact can occasionally be found at tribal art shows in major US cities, and this article is part of a large collection currently on display at a California museum. The estimated gallery market value for this textile of this size and condition is $2,750. Great addition to any collector of Indonesian art and textile collectors!
