Over the years it made its way to England, where one of our buyers purchased it at a fine antiques auction. It was then directly imported to our store here in Atlanta, GA. The wood of which this piece is made is solid oak, and has aged very well, now revealing a beautiful patina. The white and pastels of the brand new light floral upholstery of the seat, back rest, and arms work very well with the antique oak to create a stunningly elegant visual combination. The oak also has several areas with small yet highly detailed carvings which further add to the appeal of this piece.      Not only does this sofa look great, it's also very comfortable. The large seat is quite generous, as are the back and arm rests. Due to the extremely good condition of this sofa, it can be used regularly and without hesitation despite its old age and antique status. It's just as functional as it is beautiful! The only minor flaws are a crack on each arm rest, which has been repaired in the past, as well as some glue residue on a few of the back rest posts from previous repairs. These are barely noticeable. Overall, this is a beautiful piece of furniture.
