Description
~*~Hello and thank you for looking~*~ ~*~This buy it now is for this AMAZING once in a lifetime find!!! This is a , 100% hand-woven, antique/vintage European hemp/linen homespun Cart cover that is HUGE. It measures ~*~ 14 feet long by 8 feet wide ( in metric 4.3 meters long by 2.43 meters wide) ~*~*~ over twenty-three yards of fabric in total!! ~*~*~ An AMAZING textile find, never seen one like it!! This textile was once used as a HUGE cart cover, for farmers taking produce to market, people moving items from place to place etc. This cover is made from HAND STITCHING 5 panels of hand woven hemp together. Each panel is 4.66 yards long so there is over 23 yards of fabric in total!! Each end is also all hand stitched with a wonderful heavy hemp thread. This cover would make the most amazing Bedcover ever. If you havn't seen the cover of the Jan/Feb Veranda, please have a look. You will see how these textiles make stunning bed covers!! ~*~ This cover is very very heavy. Nearly 20 pounds all together. It is thick and heavy~ SOOOOOO wonderful. The weave used in weaving the individual panels is a stunning twill weave and the tone on one side is an oatmeal and the reverse is a deep, nutty oatmeal. Either side really could be used. The paler side is intended as the front, however the reverse could easily be used also~*~* In the weave there are some wonderful natural tonal variations and in places even striations~*~* It is so wonderful, so natural. . This cover was built to last for 200 years~ truly. This textile would have taken a very very long time indeed. The hemp was home grown, hand cut, home retted, spun at home, and then would have been stitched together to form the large piece~ I alway wish so much I could go back in time to thank the people of yesterday who made these textile treasures. I wish they could know how deeply they are treasured today~*~*~ This textile has been freshly laundered ~ it is in lovely condition! There are a couple of very small marks that didn't fully wash, however that is being picky! Included might be a few blades of grass from Loodyladys lawn ! :) ~*~ So easy to wash. Simply wash on warm, tumble dry. I used a fabric softener to add a bit of softness to the textile. ~*~* ~*~The woman weavers of yesterday would spend their evenings weaving these amazing rolls of linen. It took the average woman 1 night to weave 60 centimeters ( 24 inches) of linen All of my linen rolls are produced using natural fibers. Natural fibers have the irregularities and subtleties that are inherent ...adding to their rustic charm~*~ These rolls are increasingly difficult to find as they have been used so extensively over the past 20 years. This is a wonderful opportunity to own your own piece of textile history~*~ ~*~Please see my other items for more textile treasures~*~ ~*~For weekly updates, please add me to your favorites list!!~* ~*~Important information~*~ Customer satisfaction is extremely important to me! If you are not satisfied with your purchase please contact me immediately~*~ I would always endeavor to solve any problems together with my customer. I am a very friendly ebayer and simply determined to bring beautiful textiles to the world! I politely request that all items be paid for within 7 days. I always post quickly; every Monday, Wednesday and Friday and I always combine shipping charges to save my customers money on postage, this is important to me! If there is a discrepancy of more than $2.00 between what you paid and the actual postage charge, please email me as it would have only been a mistake on my part and I will very happily refund the difference. ~*~ All of my textiles are wrapped in acid free tissue and sent in water tight wrapping, at no extra charge to my customers. I sell many items therefore I must state that the buyer assumes all risk of lost post. To avoid possible disappointment, I strongly recommend insuring your parcel. I always retain proof of postage. In the unlikely event, 100% of recovered compensation goes to the buyer~*~ All items that I sell are either vintage or antique, and the individual item condition will be described to the best of my ability however, often flaws are inherent in vintage and antique textiles. Please email me if condition is vital to your purchase and we can discuss condition in detail. I sincerely thank you for your interest in my textiles~*~
