Description
Up for sale is this gorgeous old violin that I haven't played since I was a teenager. (I'm now 53,even though I don't care to admit it!)  Anyway, my rich old great aunt gave me this violin that her father played when I was in the second grade and wanted to take violin lessons.  (took 'em for eight years starting in 1963!).  She said I had to give it back if I didn't want it anymore , but she died before I could give it back!  That was a long time ago.  Anyway, my great grand-daddy or what-ever he was played this some time back around the first World War. (Apparently that's why she was so strongly attached to it!)  His last name was Freiermuth.  For those of you who don't know, that is a German name...  He brought this puppy with him over to the states with him (so my mother tells me).  Here's another kicker:  inside is the very common sticker that says it was made by Antonio Stradivarius in 1719.  Now that's pretty doubtful, since most strads have long since been accounted for.  But it's still pretty cool.  Anyway, as you can see in the pics, it comes in a case by the GSB case company.  Apparently that was a common company back then.  So my guess is this is a german violin, probably made sometime in the early 20th century (My mother says that my great grand - pappy played professionally in Nashville before the war and into the 1920s!)  I just know it's damned old!  Please note: I do not have the original bow with it any more;  That has somehow been lost in time, unfortunately.  With the exception of the chinrest and strings (which was replace in 1963 when I started playing it), the entire violin is original.  That makes this fiddle nearly a century old!  I've been sittin' on it long enough and I need to finance more guitar toys, so this needs to go.  Buyer pays shipping and handling.  Serious bidders only... no deadbeats.  Thanks for looking!
