Description
This antique hearing aid device is a silver metal hand-held trumpet with 29 holes for sound waves to enter through it's 2 1/4 inch convex surface. The 2 1/2 inch long curved metal tube with a vulcanite ear tip can be turned to be used in either ear. This type of miniature trumpet was lightweight and provided some assistance for the slightly hearing impaired. There are no markings indicating the manufacturer or its exact date of manufacture though it is believed to have been made in France about 1890. ( According to the Bernard Becker medical library, Washington University School of medicine).
