Description
This is a beautiful antique authentic builders half hull with original backboard. This half hull came from the estate of a Seattle Washington collector. We were told that this half hull dates to the mid to late 1800s. It is constructed of seven lifts of wood. The lifts were made to be taken apart as templates to build a full size ship. The lifts are held together by two dowels or wood pegs. This is the correct technique used in the last half of the 1800s in making the model half hulls. This half hull and framed backboard measures approximately 25" long x 8" wide x 4 1/2" deep. There are some slight age cracks in the backboard toward the bow end, nothing serious, only adds character. The model is held onto the backboard with two old wood screws on the backside. This model has a beautiful dark golden patina. The lines are absolutely gorgeous, look at the stern! This is a spectacular authentic builders half hull in the perfect size that would grace any serious nautical collection. Please look at all of the photos and ask any questions before bidding.
