What a BEAUTIFUL ring!!!! This beautiful ring was found at a Roman site in Ancient Moesia and dates from around 200AD This ring features an oval bezel that has a clear engraving on it's face. The band swoops gracefully from the bezel towards the back of the band. The engraving is of wheat plants in full fruit. The Roman army was utilized to insure the flow of wheat to Rome from all of it's provinces remained uninterrupted. Wheat was the single most important commodity in the Ancient world. Almost every war that Rome engaged in was over the flow of grain, either to Rome itself or to one of her vassal states. The Roman Legionaries were proud to provide this vital service to the Empire and proudly wore these rings to signify that. Those of you familiar with this ring type will know that this is one of the best preserved examples that has been seen in a long time as well as the largest size that I have offered in this style in recent memory. There is a small partial stress crack to the side of the band. It does not go all the way through and the ring remains intact. You can just see this in the picture just above butt more so in the picture against a white background below. The picture on your right is the one that I am talking about. LOOK....at how CRISP the design of the Wheat Plants are! even the minor casting flaw to the side of the band doesn't detract from the STUNNING, mirrorlike shine of this band. Finding one of these FINE rings in such a LARGE size is becoming more of a rare occurrence. The pictures above and below show two more views of this EXCITING ring. LOOK....at the SHINE!!!
