The slide measures 6.8 inches wide by 3.75 inches high. The glass is approximately 3 inches in diameter. The slide in this auction is in excellent condition. The wood is good shape, although there are two small toolmarks or indentations in the wood, the larger of which is visible in the third photo shown here. The glass is in excellent condition, better than most of the other Carpenter and Westley slides I've seen. This slide has a large moth as a specimen. The glass in this slide is in excellent condition and the specimens are superb. Carpenter and Westley slides are well over 100 years old, though I do not have exact dates on the slides in this collection. I recently aquired a few of these beautiful slides and will be placing some up for auction, so if you are a collector you may want to keep on eye on my future sales as well as this one. The slides have been in my family for the past 35 years, with my father having bought them in England in the 1960s and 70s. Additionally, my father was a member of the New York Microscopical Society, and we will have some other collectibles for sale associated with the society.
