Description
Chevaux Marins by Emile Picault c 1887 A Very Beautiful and Rare French Salon Bronze, Circa 1887, original made in Paris, by the Artist Emile Picault.  In Excellent Condition.  This work, titled "Chevaux Marins"  is a Stunning Example of the Beautiful Works Being Produced for the Homes and Salons of 19th. Century France.  This Statue, according to Records and Archives for the Artist, was Exhibited at the "Salon' of 1895, at the Louvre Museum.  Beautiful warm Silver Patina, not over painted or waxed.  In Excellent Condition.  No Repairs or Re-Castings.  Highly detailed and not Massed Produced. This is a very unique Sculpture that we acquired through an Estate Sale in the late 1970's.  We purchased this with the paper work that comes with it.  If you email us we can provide you copies via fax or email.  The finish is perfect and the details are amazing.  This would make a grand entrance or center piece.  We are offering it at half the price we paid for it, and we got this for a bargain.  We paid $8900 and have the receipts from auction.  The peice is worth considerably more and will definitely appreciate in value. This is from the JB HIrsch Foundry as a part of its Collection Francaise.  The collection was a part of the Artists desire to expand his works around the world. The dimensions are:  H 36" x Diameter 24"   Emile Louis Picault (French, 1839-1915) Medieval French 14th century bronze warrior with a lovely brown patina. Signed E.Picult on base. Torso and arms cast separately. 29" tall and weighs 40.5 lbs. Originally from the Fawick collection. Emile Picault trained under Louis Royer, the Dutch sculptor, and exhibited a wide range of sculpture at the Salon between 1863 and 1909.
