The large solid one-piece stone blade is carved in low to medium relief, in three design panels. The top section, depicting two confronting chilong dragons, carved in medium relief. The center section of the blade depicting the face of an archaic style foo lion carved in low relief with good detail. The bottom section has a row of leaf lappets carved in medium relief with good detail to the veins of the leaves. The reverse side of the blade is carved with an identical motif. The stone of a dark green tone with an abundance of beautiful russet highlights throughout, with a nice old polish. A blade of this sort would have been originally made of bronze in the Archaic era and used for medical practices or ceremonial services. The jade blade would have been a ritual piece used in a burial. This piece was acquired in the 1960's from a Florida estate. Length: 27.5 cm ( 10.7 in.), Width: 13 cm. (5 in.) Condition: Very Good.
