Conditions on each item vary greatly and all of them have seen a great deal of use.  We will try our best to give an accurate account of the state of the costume, but ask you, the bidder, to keep in mind that many of these are quite old and have seen decades upon decades of use in the theatre!   In many instances, the costumes would be adequate for displays or for their fine embroideries. Most however, would not stand up to much, if any, continued use! ~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~ The predominant colour of this costume is plum or dark purple silk with gold and blue accents.   It is approximately 38 inches in length and and has more of a jacket look than the full opera gown (like most of the others). This piece is in remarkably sound condition and other than a very few minor patches and loose threads, could either adorne the textile collection, wall or be put back into service as the most smashing costume!  This is one piece that could be worn as a jacket over a long silk gown or silk pants, etc.  Would be absolutely stunning - or for the textile collector would be a key piece to a nice collection!
