Conditions on each item vary greatly and all of them have seen a great deal of use.  We will try our best to give an accurate account of the state of the costume, but ask you, the bidder, to keep in mind that many of these are quite old and have seen decades upon decades of use in the theatre!   In many instances, the costumes would be adequate for displays or for their fine embroideries. Most however, would not stand up to much, if any, continued use! ~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~ The predominant colour of this costume is Chinese red silk with gold and blue accents.   It is approximately 60 inches in length and tags indicate that it was a "guard" or "general's" constume. This piece is in remarkably sound condition and other than a very few minor patches and loose threads, could either adorne the textile collection, wall or be put back into service as the most smashing costume!  Major problem that we note with this piece is where some of the dyes used in the fringes have bled onto the base fabric.  It has created an interesting design, but we feel certain was not supposed to be there in its original state!
