The quilt is dated 1896 and also signed by the maker. What I love about the quilt are all the interesting motifs present. It's like a picture story and each block has multiple motifs. Quite different from the usual redwork examples. It measures a generous 76 x 78 inches. Hand quilted 7-8 stitches per inch. The edges are turned and handsewn. The batting is thin. Some age spotting and one corner has age spotting. The redwork embroidery is handsewn. Fabrics are cotton. Crisp, NEVER USED or washed. Dated 1896 Collected in Chester County Pennsylvania.
