I will begin by saying , what a privilege it is to be able to page through this amazing book.Even though it is written in French it is still intriquing. It is titiled--"Discours, Historiques, Critiques, Theologies,et Moraux, Sur les Evenemens Les nPlus Memorables " which translates to---"Dissertations, Historical, Critical, Theological and Moral On The Most Memorable Events of the Old and New Testament"This translation is done by John Chamberlyn.Written by  M. Saurin and published by Pierre De Hondt  in 1739. Engravings are done by the well known and respected Hoet, Houbraken and Picart. There are 32 single page engravings and 6 dual page engravings, illustrating various scenes from the Bible including, "The Last Supper", "Christ on the Cross" and "The Resurrection".All of these are in excellent condition. The book is bound in leather and does show wear. There has been some restoration to the cover though it appears to have been done sometime ago.Binding is tight and all pages remain intact. There is minimal signs of water damage to the first few blank pages.Nothing that is a distraction from this beautiful book. All other pages show typical signs of age.Overall this book is in very good condition. This book was in the library of Edward Francis Searles, who was a well known architect and interior designer. This is shown from a library tag on the inside cover. You can Google this gentlemens name to get more information. This book is from a large set. Please E-mail any questions you may have, I will do my best to give you accurate information. If you are a international buyer with interest , please contact me for a quote on shipping.I am happy to ship anywhere in the world. The book measures...17" x 11 1/2 ".Here is your chance to add a wonderful piece history to your library.Enjoy looking.
