This item was made in the late 1800's or early 1900's . It is made of solid sterling silver  by the court Jewler to the KING of Denmark Peter Hertz. This spoon was inspired by medivial Danish and northern european  spoons. The originals only had engraved ornamentation. Peter Hert firm exibited silver in the scandinavian style in Numerous International exibitions such as one in 1910 in Bruxelles. This item has a religious motif. The front of the spoon has Mary  and a nice inscription the handle has writing in the front as well Sup hept bren tich icke.  on the reverse is ST OLAV slaying a serpent or dragon and also surrounded by writing St Olav Martir domini orn pro me mitero. This is the nicest piece of enamel I have had the pleasure of owning. The entire silver portion of the spoon has a heavy gold wash to it the enameling is also in superb condtion with no damage. This item is marke P Hertz 924 due to Danish silver standards at the time the decimal is 924 sterling is 925 so 1/1,000 part less silver than sterling silver basically sterling silver.   The low starting price is in no way a representation of this items true value weighs 3.5 ounces on my postal scale or 99grams 7 3/4 inches long 2 3/4 inches across bowl of spoon   I am happy to answer questions and to send additional photos thanks for looking and please see my other auctions.
