Description
Homer Laughlin and his brother Shakespeare formed the Laughlin Pottery in 1871 in East Liverpool, Ohio.  The Laughlin Pottery would eventually become the Homer Laughlin China Company.  Shakespeare left the company in 1879.  In 1889, William Edwin Wells joined Homer and seven years later the two would incorporate. Homer would sell his interest to Wells shortly thereafter. We had the privilege of completing 3 weeks of total salvage on the home of Homer Laughlin. The home was 4800 sq.ft. and was located in East Liverpool Ohio.A large set of hand carved double entry doors lead you into the great hall with coffered ceiling, black walnut wainscot, with hand careered pocket doors on each side. These lead into a large parlor, dining room, each with hand carved fireplace mantle and wainscott all around each room.A large 10'pier mirror with marble seat graced on side of the parlor. The other side of the great hall had a library with built in bookcase units of black walnut and a fireplace mantle. There is also a study. The rooms have great stick and ball fretwork.Everything is of a massive scale.Door and window trim also has hand carved elements.Doors have large sunflowers in the centers. The great hall leads to a large columned stick and ball fretwork with carved birds nesting.Trough this is the grand staircase also of black walnut. This sweeps up in a large "U" shape with 2 landings. The upper floors consisted of the families living quarters,5 bedrooms each with mantles and beautiful doors with transoms above. The window and door casing also hand carved. We meticulously removed and denailed all the woodwork and is now stored in our warehouse.I will post some photos here but serious inquiries please call or email and I can send a CD with all interior photos.(330)518-0431
