Bonifatius <Papa, VIII.>: Liber Sextus. Mit der Glosse von Johannes Andreae und Summaria und Divisiones von Dominicus de Sancto Geminiano u.a. -- Davor: Johannes <Andreae>: Lectura super arboribus consanguinitatis et affinitatis. --   Venedig: Baptista de Tortis, [1] : 1491.11.04;   ISTC ib01006000. BMC V, 326.   GW 4888. HC 3618 (1) + H 5446 (2). Pell-Pol 2758. IGI 1983. BMC V, 326 (IC. 21419). Goff B 1006. IBP 1199. Husung, Druckerzeichen 235.   A WONDERFUL GORGEOUS KING SIZE FOLIO 45 CM (That is the Size of a Gutenberg Bible, I believe) Beautiful rubriation. In Green. Blue and Red   In its original state! Binding worn but with the original Gothic brass knobs. With very nice old marginalia and one leaf full with them.   CONDITION Collated 100% COMPLETE: 104 LEAVES plus 2 fly leafs, although the year before another part of this collection of laws where published. Some browning to the out margins,  some scattered needle like worm holes at the back of the book. BUT NO offensive staining or wormtunnels. PAGES Very crisp.   Boniface was one of the most distinguished canonists of his age, and as pope enriched the general ecclesiastical legislation by the promulgation ("Sacrosanctæ", 1298) of a large number of his own constitutions and of those of his predecessors, since 1234, when Gregory IX promulgated his five books of Decretals. In reference to this the collection of Boniface was entitled "Liber Sextus", i. e., Sixth Book of Pontifical Constitutions being constructed on the same lines.   VALUE:   Folio of this size, 45 cm! are uncommon, in its original binding, with brass knobs and rubrication rarer still. I LIKE THIS BOOK, it will be an asset to your collection     All questions are welcome. I will try to answer them quickly to the best of my ability.   I have stopped with 1$ starting prices for  valuable books and here is why. I did it in the past and achieved amazing prices, while my books listed with a decent starting bid, did not sell   BUT   I never felt good about it, because it creates with my customers the feeling that something strange is going on. This is not necessarily so but ever since the bidders identities are protected, it does make it easier (in my mind) to have friends and colleagues bidding, although I am sure eBay is doing everything to prevent this from happening.  So now I start at price for which I am happy to sell it and I leave you to take it further. A lot further I hope. But now you can be sure, no games going on.   An important note: I tend to believe that people are basically good and I have send easily books upon approval. But I did make some nasty experiences lately, with incunabula that were only being send back to me, with the help of lawyers.   The only exception I make will be for accredited institutions, I have often noticed that there is a fear of buying on ebay, so let me spell it out. If you are a serious bidder but are afraid to commit to a purchase that you have not examined, I will send upon approval and you are under no obligation to buy. If you feel jittery pushing the button yourself, just engage a company that places a sniper bid for you.      In any another case I will send after payment has been received, we can use however escrow services. Trust us, we have sold many precious books before.  We are antiquarian book dealers, we pride ourselves on offering rare books and manuscripts at very competitive prices.  If you have special wants, if you are looking for manuscripts, book of hours, incunabula, tell us and we will see what we can come up with.   Pay pal ask me first!
