Description
One must exercise caution when buying antiquities on the Internet, but you can be confident this item is completely authentic and guaranteed. A very large 10.5" (27cm) hollow molded terracotta head - life-sized - of a youthful female with long wavy hair, wearing long, circular, tri-part segmented disc earrings. From the Etruscan civilization, that flourished in the land called Etruria (encompassed modern-day Tuscany and Umbria in Italy) which remains one of the more mysterious and least-understood of the ancient cultures. Significant remains of the original medium brown paint, repaired from a few large original pieces, with large area from back of head missing, however doesn't detract from display. Mounted on an old wood base. An extremely impressive display piece for your collection. This object has been vetted by a major NYC auction house, with Provenance provided to buyer, and free shipping within the US.
