It consists of two separate pieces: the seated figure of Guanyin and the lotus stand. This is not unusual--old Chinese bronzes often consisted of more than one piece. Everything is original and it is not a marriage or mismatch. It is covered overall with a dark patina that is dusty in most areas that haven't been handled for a very long time. It is in very good condition with the exception of the loss of the thumb on the left hand and a couple of pinprick sized casting losses. The face has a nice sheen to the patina which indicates what the entire bronze could look like: should the buyer so desire it. It dates to a period ranging from the 16th through the 18th century in China. The buyer will not be disappointed, as it is nicer than the photos would indicate.
