Measures 24" x 33". The hand embroidered panel in the center of the pillow is a fantastic example of monochromatic silk embroidery on ivory cotton muslin. The intricate needlework is pomegranate in color. The highly graphic geometrical design is characteristic of traditional Fez embroidery, which typical has no pattern whatsoever transferred or drawn on the actual fabric prior to the start of the embroidery process. The measured stitches are very small, only a few millimeters, and they are the same on both sides with no visible knotting. The artisan counts each thread, embroidering horizontally, vertically, and /or diagonally, leaving blank spaces to combine the desired design. Today, large works of Fez embroidery are very rare. The modernization of  the Moroccan society has led to a drastic decrease in the number of women learning how to embroider.
