This wonderful, hand made, iron and brass Patent Model measures approx.11 3/4" tall and 3 1/4" wide. It is an entirely hand made, was meant to be a working model of a new and improved “Safety Valve" and was titled as such on its original Patent Office Tag and on its Patent Papers. This was actually the original Patent Model - submitted to the US Patent Office by the inventor - Thomas Walker. It came to us from a collection of Patent Models with a portion of its original tag identifying it as Patent Number 163,618. The online Patent Document identifies the Patent Date as February 9th. 1875. This Safety Valve Apparatus for Steam Engines was issued Patent #163,618 and the original Patent can be viewed by clicking here. This original, hand made Model was submitted as a Patent Model to the United States Patent Office. Its parts are made of brushed iron and brass and the Model is complete as submitted. This Patent Model is 100% guaranteed original and manufactured in 1875 when it was submitted to the United States Patent Office as part of the Patent Application process.
