Old Antique Set Chinese Rose Medallion Bowl + Plate Spectacular Fruit Serving Set c. 1860 Chinese Export Start Price USD 1,599.00 Current Price USD 1,599.00 Time Left - Bid Count 0 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Sunday, August 31, 2008 End Time Sunday, September 07, 2008 Location Chapel Hill, NC See more about 'Old Antique Set Chinese Rose Medallion Bowl + Plate' Description Authentic and original c. 1860 old antique Chinese export porcelain 2 Piece Set Rose Medallion Reticulated Fruit Bowl with matching Reticulated Underplate.  (I have seen other underplates before, but never a reticulated one like this one.)   This set consists of a large reticulated (this means net-like or lacy, open design) fruit bowl with the matching reticulated underplate.  The predominant colors are green and rose, with accents of gold leaf and yellow.  Note the reticulated parts of the fruit bowl with the multi-colored stripes.  The gold leaf is in excellent antique condition, considering it's age.     There are many insets of tiny hand paintings on the porcelain, ranging from a rose, to birds on a rose, to scenes of Chinese court life.   Please be sure to see the pic of my favorites---the tiny butterflies that are put around the center medallion of the underplate.  Just exquisite!  There are no chips to the set that I could find, although there are glaze skips as I have always seen in Rose Medallion.  My grandfather gave this set to me.  I would like to sell it because we need a new heating system!  There are always a lot of watchers on this item, but PLEASE someone, buy it and enjoy it---it is just beautiful.  You will love it and I will get my new heat pump!  I hope someone with a fine antique home will enjoy and display this piece.  It probably belongs someplace like Winterthur!
