WITH DATES' Description We bought this violin last night from a VA. Estate Auction. I'm not going to pretend to know anything about it...so you'll have to ask questions if you have any. I could only post the 12 photos...so if you need more photos send a note with your email address and we'll be happy to get more pictures out to you. Here is what I know for sure. It seems to be old...more than 120 years old. Will need some restoration. The tuning pegs have a date..."Pat May 8-88". There is a pencil marked and signed repaired date. "Repaired by J.W. Mitchell, Bay City Mich. May 12 1907". The label on the inside says "Gaspora Da Salo". I'm not going to go into what I've learned about Gaspora Da Salo...because if you are looking at this and have read this far you probably know if this violin is valuable or not...I don't know at this point. The bow is marked with what I believe to be a date or numbers in Roman Numerals..."XIVII" or "X/VIII". The case is made of wood with a blue velvet inside. The outside has a brass eyelet and latch with a simple brass carrying handle. If you look at this ebay item number 120297478350 you'll see that it is very nearly the same case...not sure about the violin...but he's asking $2,500!!!
