Description
We bought this violin last night from a VA. Estate Auction. I'm not going to pretend to know anything about it...so you'll have to ask questions if you have any. I could only post the 12 photos...so if you need more photos send a note with your email address and we'll be happy to get more pictures out to you. Here is what I know for sure. It seems to be old...more than 120 years old. Will need some restoration. The tuning pegs have a date..."Pat May 8-88". There is a pencil marked and signed repaired date. "Repaired by J.W. Mitchell, Bay City Mich. May 12 1907". The label on the inside says "Gaspora Da Salo". I'm not going to go into what I've learned about Gaspora Da Salo...because if you are looking at this and have read this far you probably know if this violin is valuable or not...I don't know at this point. The bow is marked with what I believe to be a date or numbers in Roman Numerals..."XIVII" or "X/VIII". The case is made of wood with a blue velvet inside. The outside has a brass eyelet and latch with a simple brass carrying handle. If you look at this ebay item number 120297478350 you'll see that it is very nearly the same case...not sure about the violin...but he's asking $2,500!!! Everything comes as you see it in the photo with the case. I'll let the bidding do the talking!! US and International Shipping is FREE!! I have to start adding this to my listings. I'm not an expert on the things I sell. I promise you...I'm not one of the twins on the Antique Road Show! I sell things I think other people might like to buy...I list them to the best of my knowledge...which comes from books, google, and ebay! If you have questions you need to ask. MOST of the time I ship USPS Priority (the less time in the mail system the better)! The cheapest Priority is $5.25 for small things. Flat Rate is $9.25...and everything is is based off box diminisons and weight. Insurance is optional. Also, most of the time I guess at what shipping will cost...sometimes I've lost a lot on shipping....so if it seems high...it's because I'm guessing. I will ship overseas...but email first to get an idea of what shipping will cost. I can and will ship via UPS when necessary.
