Description
This was my Grandmother's violin. I would rather have it being played than gathering dust. It has a written appraisal for $2000. The following information has been taken from that appraisal... Instrument: 4/4 Violin, circa 1850 Maker-type-model: Matthias Neuner – inscribed under fingerboard. Label: Jacobus Stainer in Absam 1660 Workmanship: excellent Condition: good to excellent Back: 1 piece slab-cut birdseye maple Belly: 1 piece med grain Haselfichte-spruce-narrow grain on E side Neck & Scroll: match back – birdseye maple Interior work: excellent – typical Mittenwald-Tyrol work Varnish: original, shaded yellow brown/red brown- soft texture. Shows wear at contact points. Remarks: Top and back have no cracks. Violin is sound. Neck has been broken and original button replaced. This repair is strong and correct but detracts from appearance & value. Case and bow are included. Buyers pays shipping.
