Description
Description: Here we have a PADDY CARROL TJUNGURRAYI - Impeccable Provenance and Highly Collectable 210cm x 198cm Synthetic polymer on high quality primed Linen. 'Bush Tomato Dreaming" was painted in 1986. The painting is a particularly large and extremely well executed work by Paddy in an unusually large scale and demonstrates this artists incredible talent and his detailed patterning. IMPORTANT - Paddy Carrol's work is high end investment art. His works regularly feature in Sotheby's auctions and down. For those looking to invest in Aboriginal Art you should note that provenance is being scrutinised extremely closely and the provenance on this Paddy is as good as it gets. -Painted at Papunya in 1986 for Papunya Tula Artists, Alice Springs -Private Collection, Sydney Duetcher Menzies, Australian and International Paintings, Melbourne Sunday 22 November, 1998, Lot 234 Private Collection, Melbourne Joel Fine Art, Melbourne This painting is sold with an accompanying certificate from Papunya Tula Artists, Alice Springs I Guarentee without reserve that this is an authentic work by Paddy Carrol. It is a work of the absolute highest quality. Given the nature of this work I am willing to consider near offers from interested parties. Medium and Support: Synthetic Polymer On Linen Signature: Catalogue number of Papunya Tula Artists PC861061, Artists Name and painting size borne on reverse plus COA from Papunya Tula Artists. Title Of Work: "Bush Tomato Dreaming" Date Of Work: Painted in 1986. Artist Details: Paddy Carrol was born circa 1927 and grew up in his mothers country near the site of Winparrku in the region of Haasts Bluff. The family would come in to collect rations from Yuendumu and Haasts Bluff. He is another artist who can trace back to the Coniston Massacre of 1928 where his father was shot by Europeans. Paddy began painting with Papunya Tula Artists in 1977 following a long career as a stockman, quickly becoming reknown for the scale and detail of his works which vividly demonstrated his extensive knowledge of ceremonial law - in this case via his Bush Tomato Dreaming. Paddy is most often quoted in response to a journalist puzzling over the meaning of a paintings complex iconography that, "We have had to learn your language, now its time you learned ours'. Paddy lived with his second wife Ruby Nangala in their new house at Three Mile outstation just North of Papunya Tula for many years until his recent passing away. Image Size: 210 X 198 CM Condition of picture: Superb. Rich colours and textures, a very good example. Condition of frame and/or mount: Currently stretched and in excellent condition perfectly ready to hang and enjoy if you are Melbourne based. Otherwise I will remove the piece from its stretcher bar and ship rolled in a tube for non-Melbourne Australian or International buyers Local Shipping: Packaging and postage is charged strictly at cost. I would prefer not to remove this item fro its stretcher bar and interstate transport would therefore be preferably via specialised art carrier (I am happy to organise this with cost as per actual price.) We insure for full or maximum value. Extra insurance charged at $1 per $100 value (within Australia only).
