Description
A fabulous run of three original William De Morgan tiles, dated 1898Three tiles featuring two wonderful Islamic inspired designs, comprising two complete six inch tiles plus a third cut-down tile. The tiles date from 1898 and each is stamped with a Fulham period mark. ReferencesThe design is illustrated in the Jon Catleugh, William de Morgan Tiles, Richard Dennis Publishers, Ilminster, Somerset, 2002, on p123. The marks present on the rear of each tile are indexed in the same volume on page 181. Please see the penultimate two photos for illustrations. The condition is excellent. There are a few expecting minor edge chips and general surface crazing in places consistent with age and use. Please see all the photos that I have provided for the best possible guide to condition. There are no significant damages such as cracks, large chips to the centre of the design or repairs. The cut-down tile has had about three quarters of an inch removed from the to, while the tile I have positioned at the bottom of the three has some wear to the rear where it has been removed from its original setting. This does not impact in any way on the decoration on the front of the tile. The three display together beautifully and will look fabulous framed. william morris An amazing find for the discerning collector. Don't miss this opportunity. UK buyers only may also pay by cheque or postal order. If it's a cheque, please allow 7 to 10 days for it to clear. In exceptional circumstances it may be possible for overseas customers to pay by other means such as bank transfer in GBP£ by prior arrangement. All buyers please make contact within 3 days of auction. Payment is required within 7 days. Non-paymentAll non-paying bidders are, without exception, reported to eBay. This is not for the sake of being vindictive, but because eBay charges retrospective fees calculated on the actual sale price of items and this money needs to be retrieved. It's hard enough to make ends meet on here as it is! Thank you for your understanding. Please refer to eBay's policy on non-payment for more information, including its ramifications for the bidder.Condition of itemsPlease note that, unless clearly stated otherwise, my listings are for vintage/antique items and therefore, by definition, are not going to be in the same condition you would expect from a brand new item. Please be assured that I always endeavour to offer the most accurate description possible of the item's condition and take multiple illustrative photographs. Vintage electrical itemsUnless clearly stated otherwise in the description, vintage electrical items are sold in their original condition so should be safety checked by an electrician before use. ReturnsReturns are possible, if reported within 7 days and by prior arrangement, if a mistake has been made in the listing and the item is not as described, but for no other reason. I'm afraid that straightforward buyer's remorse does not qualify and the cost of return postage is not included in any refund. That's it...please don't hesitate to e-mail me to ask any questions not covered here; I always answer as quickly as possible. Thanks very much for taking the time to read this and best of luck bidding!
