c.1800-1840 Hand Blown Glass WALL POCKET from New York Start Price USD 845.00 Current Price USD 845.00 Time Left - Bid Count 0 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Friday, July 04, 2008 End Time Friday, July 11, 2008 Location Reamstown, Pennsylvania See more about 'c.1800-1840 Hand Blown Glass WALL POCKET from New York' Description Make sure to check out our other EARLY AMERICAN GLASS in our ebay store by clicking the "Eagle Antiques" store logo above then click the "GLASS: early American" category in left hand collumn. c.1800-1840 Glass Wall Pocket This hand blown wall pocket recently surfaced in an estate sale in New York and most likely was blown in one of the early American glass houses in this same state.Measuring 5 1/4" high x 5" wide at top, this light green wall pocket could be hung from a wooden peg (the back side of lip by the applied handle is flattened so it would rest nicely against a wall) and apparently it was also used on the counter surface since there is a lot of high point wear to the base.Having a folded over rim with an applied handle, the pontilled base has a high kick-up as shown in the close-up photos below.Condition: there is two tiny nicks on the bottom of the base (not seen) but no other cracks or chips anywhere else.Even though we have over 35 years experience in glass and dealt in early American blown glass for the last 20 years we wanted to get an outside opinion on this piece and a well known expert on early American glass studied this piece in person and stated that he believed it dated c.1800-1820 and was made in New York (where it recently surfaced) and gave us an appraisel which we will use below in the estimate of value and we are starting the bidding off at close to half of retail value.Just an exceptional piece of early American glass of not only importance but also an extremely rare form to see in glass ! ....est. $1,200-$1,500.
