This is a beauty and a rarity, in my 15 years hunting chandeliers this is a first. Direct from France. This piece is 36 inches tall by 26 inches wide and features a stylistic "rococo" top with carved gilt bronze shell motif. The chandelier is "flower form" with cut lead crystal jewelled basket in 3 huge sections. Protruding from whippy vines, there are the most outrageous tulip form flowers, covered by gold aurene iridescent tulip shades [these are replacements as only 3 of the originals made the trek from France]. Very beautiful and expensive shades! 6 of these large flowers [7 inch] curve up and over the basket, in 3 pairs of 2. Symetrically stunning!. The central basket is quite a piece of art, gilt bronze weave with hand cut heavy crystal jewels filling in all the weave spaces. These jewels were cut to specifically fit into these holes and none are missing! There is a difference in regular crystal and the old beautiful chunks that you find here. The basket lights up from the center with 3 interior lights and each of the 6 flowers have one light for 9 light total. Bottom tri-sided very detailed finial. The jewelled basket features 3 sides, on each one at the top is an outrageous lions mask in high relief in the gilt bronze. There are rococo flourishes up and down this piece, from the carved shell at the top, down the very detailed center column, around the flower stems holding the lights, throughout the basket and down to the finial. This is one very high quality, solid chandelier, weighing approx. 50 pounds.
